Digital Responsibility

Build Trust to Gain Loyalty

What Is Digital Responsibility?

Digital responsibility has evolved from data privacy and data use transparency concerns (which are now largely defined and regulated by GDPR and CCPA guidelines) to include supply chain transparency, responsible sourcing, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) considerations.

As organizations consider their overall digital operations and maturity, digital responsibility topics should be incorporated as key strategic elements for driving growth, customer loyalty, and employee experience.

Within the pillars of digital responsibility there are key considerations:

  • Data Privacy: There is an assumption by customers that their information is private, safe, and protected by brands. Any breach of trust in that assumption can destroy a customer relationship forever.
  • Supply Chain Transparency: This is a cornerstone of consumer trust. Where products are sourced, who is creating them, and how they are fulfilled is increasingly important to customer purchasing decisions and long-term loyalty.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Customers are increasingly aligning with brands that share their values. Transparent DE&I policies, KPIs and progress against them are critical in acquiring and retaining customers and employees.
